NEIGHBOURHOOD FESTIVAL -
FOOTSCRAY COMMUNITY ARTS, 2022
A series of dinners as part of Footscray Community Arts’ Neighbourhood Contemporary Art Festival - Co-presented by Footscray Community Arts/The Substation - 11-27th November, 2022
Fluff Corp. collaborated with 3 guest artists from Footscray Community Art’s Neighbourhood Festival to present 3 different and unique clay-baked dining experiences. We worked with the guest artists who used their cultural backgrounds, artistic practice and favourite foods to inform the theme of their event design and menu. The project explores the foods of different cultures as well as the shared rituals surrounding the act of creating and sharing meals; a language of its own.

Dinner 1: Michaela Gleave.
An atmospheric journey of science and food at the iconic Substation.
Michaela Gleave is a Sydney-based multi-disciplinary artist of English-German heritage, whose work sees science, art and technology coalesce as part of Neighbourhood Festival. Michaela also presented her work ‘Between Us’ as part of the Neighbourhood program.

Rummaging the pages of her great grandmother’s cookbook ‘Mein Kochbuch’, we worked with Gleave to catapult her families’ culinary traditions to the plate for this intimate clay baked dinner. Before the event guests were invited to send a message which we coded into a morse code lighting display which was displayed during the event.
